かつて醍醐寺に従事した由緒あるお住まいは、家族に大切にされながら受け継がれてきた古民家です。
この山田家を、地域のコミュニティスペースとして、また文芸やアーティストの活動発表の場として活用することで、社会に役立つ場へと育てていきます。
This historic residence, once associated with Daigo-ji Temple, is a traditional Japanese house that has been lovingly preserved and passed down through generations of the family.
By utilizing the Yamada family home as a community space for the local area, as well as a venue for literary and artistic activities and presentations, we will nurture it into a place that serves society.
史跡 山田家 庭園とは
山田家は、室町時代より醍醐寺の坊官を務め、ご門跡に仕え寺務を担ってきた由緒ある家柄です。
明治期の廃仏毀釈により多くの寺院が変革を迫られる中、関係者も寺を離れて近代社会へと歩みを進めましたが、当家は江戸時代の作庭と明治期の改修と伝わる日本庭園を守り続け、今日まで残る貴重な歴史的建造物として受け継がれてきました。
昭和43年には旧醍醐寺境内として史跡に指定され、平成27年には「京都を彩る建物や庭園」に認定、翌年には京都市景観重要建造物にも選ばれています。
近代庭園の研究者・重森三玲氏が『林泉備要』に記した枯山水庭園の座敷からの眺めは、現代を生きる私たちに静かな癒やしをもたらしてくれることでしょう。
この場所を未来へ守り、活かしていきたいと考え活動しています。
Located in the south of a World Heritage Daigoji Temple,
Yamada’s residence, an old Japanese house of the temple samurai clan is now turned into a community rental space. We hope the long-loved old house will be cherished in the future too, contributing to various community-building activities including artistic presentations and cultural exchanges.
Yamada’s residence has a Karesansui, or Japanese rock garden and tea-ceremony room handed down carefully by generations of the family. We hope to preserve the place, hand in hand with all the people who love and value the beauty of long-standing old Japanese houses.
