史跡 山田家庭園

 史跡山田家庭園とは  

 

山田家庭園は、かつて醍醐寺の坊官を務めた由緒のある住まいです。
江戸時代の『山城国醍醐之図』​（京都府立京都学・歴彩館　所蔵）には、

当家付近に「ビヤ門天」の文字があり、醍醐寺の塔頭の１つがあったと思われます。
しかし、明治政府の政策によって、日本中の寺院が廃仏毀釈に遭い、関係施設が取り壊され従事していた人々も野に下って生活していくことになりました。
その中でも、山田家は今日に至るまで江戸時代の作庭と思われる日本庭園を守りながら現代まで生き残った希少な歴史的建造物です。
京都市の景観重要建造物であり京都を彩る建物や庭園に認定されたこの場所を私たちは守り活用したいと考えます。
近代の作庭家として名高い”重森三玲”氏のまとめられた『林泉備要（日本庭園研究入門）』（1962年刊）にもリストアップされている枯山水庭園の座敷からの眺めが、せわしない現代に生きるわたし達に一服の清涼剤としてなぐさめてくれるでしょう。
 

Located in the south of a World Heritage Daigoji Temple,
Yamada’s residence, an old Japanese house of the temple samurai clan is now turned into a community rental space. We hope the long-loved old house will be cherished in the future too, contributing to various community-building activities including artistic presentations and cultural exchanges.

Yamada’s residence has a Karesansui, or Japanese rock garden and tea-ceremony room handed down carefully by generations of the family. We hope to preserve the place, hand in hand with all the people who love and value the beauty of long-standing old Japanese houses.
